Tips on Flower Girl Veil

You have bestowed the honor of flower girl on one or more members of your miniature wedding party. You have ordered matching dresses and cute baskets full of flowers that match your color scheme. Now for the finishing statement: a flower girl veil. With just a few supplies from your local craft store and less than an hour of your time, you can create a beautiful headpiece to make each little flower girl in your wedding feel special.

  1. Decide whether the flower girl will use any other type of hairpiece such as a tiara, wreath of flowers, or similar top since this decision will affect how you construct your veil and how much tulle to use.
  2. Measure the flower girl if possible from the point where the veil will start to the ending point on the body where the veil will stop. Add a few inches to this number to compensate for lost yardage when gathered. If the flower girl is not available, a rough estimate for a veil that goes half-way down the back is to divide her height in two. For example, if she is 4 feet tall, you will need two feet of fabric.
  3. Cut the amount of tulle you need. If the tulle is not as full as you would like, cut out additional layers of tulle at the same measurement.
  4. Stack tulle layers on top of each other. Bunch the one end of all the layers together. Thread your needle and knot one end of the thread. Hand sew the tulle ends together , pulling the loose end of the thread to gather the tulle tighter. Attach hair comb or other hair tie device with craft glue, an adhesive bonding agent or by hand sewing.
  5. Embellish the veil to style preference. Adhere ribbon of 1/4 thickness or less with craft glue or a simple line stitch on a sewing machine around the sides and bottom of the top lair of tulle. Iron veil on low setting. Add iron on appliques, sew on appliques or beads.

If you are one of those who has long-envisioned a lavish, royal bridal accessory, but lacks a lavish budget, you can fashion a tiara yourself. By adapting a headband and decorating it with rhinestones, you can walk down the aisle in true princess style, even if you’re working with a pauper’s budget.

  1. Apply a peppercorn-sized bead of hot glue to the base of a small hair comb accessory. Apply the bead to the front at the center of the comb base.
  2. Press the comb base against the interior side of a narrow, fabric-wrapped headband 1 inch away from the end of the band. Position the comb so that the tines run perpendicular to the headband. Repeat the process with a second comb on the other end of the headband.
  3. Run a threaded needle under a tine of the comb and headband. The thread should run from the side of the headband on which you glued the comb to the front side of the band. Hold the end of the thread against the base of the comb to secure it.
  4. Wrap the thread around the headband to secure the comb to the band reliably. Remove your finger from the loose thread end once you have wrapped the thread several times.
  5. Wrap the thread the entire length of the comb and back again so that you wrap across the pieces twice. The thread wraps should go between each tine. Tie the thread off with the loose end of thread. Trim excess thread above the knot. Repeat the process around the other comb.
  6. Arrange the brooches on your work surface to determine their placement on the headband. Place the brooch at the center of the arrangement against the center of the headband on the exterior side.
  7. Hold the loose end of a threaded needle against the back of the headband. Pull the needle under the headband. Insert the needle up, between the pin and rhinestone face of the brooch. Pull the needle around the top of the headband to wrap the pin of the brooch to the headband.
  8. Wrap thread around the brooch pin and headband to secure the brooch on the band. The brooch should be immobilized when it is totally secure.
  9. Wrap the pins of the other brooches to the headband to complete the tiara design. Apply the brooches outward from the center of the arrangement.

How to Wear a Hair Piece for a Wedding

Wedding veil has been a staple of bridal attire for generations. It covered the bride’s face as she entered the ceremony and was lifted up by the groom. Today, the wedding veil has evolved into a variety of hair pieces. Flowers, blushers, tiaras and feathers have all adorned the heads of blushing brides.

1. Choose a hair piece that complements the style of your dress and wedding. Style your hair on your wedding day before putting in your hair piece.

2. Wear fresh flowers in your hair by cutting most of the stems off, but keeping two inches of the stem attached. If you’re wearing you’re hair up, stick the bottom of the stem through the secured up-do, keeping the flowers close to your scalp. Flowers can be stuck straight down into your hair, so they can only be seen from behind.

4. Wear a small veil, also known as a blusher or a birdcage veil, by attaching it to a comb if it isn’t already attached to one.

5. If you decide to wear a tiara, place it on top of your head. You can wear it far back on your head or up close to your forehead. Stick several bobby pins on the ends of the tiara and through your hair, so it is secure.

6. If you decide to wear a feathered accessory, look to see if there is a comb or clip attached. If there isn’t, put the feathered accessory in your hair as you would like to wear it. Like the flowers, feathers can be worn at the side of the head or at the back. Place it with your fingers and then secure it by putting bobby pins at the bottom of the feather and through your hair.

How to Look Like a Princess at Prom

High school prom is one the key moments in a young woman’s life, where she dresses up in a long dress to dance the night away with her black tied date. According to “Time Magazine,” the prom started as a co-ed banquet following one’s university graduation during the 18th century. By the 1940s, the prom was held for high school seniors. For many girls, it is a dream to look like a princess at prom. Many women do not have that many opportunities to wear formal gowns besides their wedding, so they need to make the most of their prom.

Taffeta Halter Top Ball Gown Silhouette Prom Dress Style #4Q619

  • Choose a ball gown for your prom dress. A ball gown is the traditional full skirted and floor length dress, which is the classic princess evening wear. Choose your favorite color. Bright colors stand out in the crowd.
  • Wear long white gloves with your ball gown. Long gloves are usually reserved for white tie events, or the most formal events. Wear your gloves the entire time at your prom except when eating and drinking.
  • Wear sparkly shoes to the prom. You are wearing a long dress, but your shoes will peak out as you walk or dance. Choose sparkly shoes that a princess would wear. Like Cinderella, you need shoes that fit well for dancing. Stay with a heel no more than 2 inches tall and decorated with sequins or rhinestones.
  • Wear a tiara with your hair up. Have a friend help you create an updo for the prom or go to a salon for professional styling. Bring your tiara so the hair stylist can work around it. Choose a tiara that is sparkly without being too large. If it is too big, you look like the queen. A tiara with pearls and small rhinestones would work well for a princess look.
  • Wear a rhinestone necklace as your main jewelry. Then wear matching earrings for your princess prom look. Wear makeup that is classic and not too heavy. Pink blush and lipstick is a must and use black liquid eyeliner across your top eyelash line. Glue on false eyelashes to make your eyes look larger.

How to Sew a Veil Onto a Tiara

Step out in style on your wedding day by attaching your veil to your tiara. Creating one headpiece instead of trying to arrange two will not only set your mind at ease but it will also make the look complete. The sparkle and shine of the rhinestones on a tiara along with the purity of a veil are lovely adornments for a blushing bride. Using basic sewing skills and a small amount of time you can create your perfect headpiece.

  1. Iron your veil to smooth it out before you begin. Keep the iron temperature low so that you do not scorch the material of the veil. Lay it out completely when finished so that the end you will be attaching is easily accessible.
  2. Match up the veil to the tiara to get an idea of how much fabric you will be sewing onto the tiara. The fabric will attach at the end of the rhinestone decoration on either side and extend down the side bars, leaving 3 inches on each side to slide into the hair.
  3. Thread your needle and start sewing. The veil should be attached using small, tight stitches. One row of stitches should be enough to hold the veil on. If there is a large amount of material, then gather it equally on both sides of the tiara. This creates a ruching effect with the material. If you have a large amount of fabric and do the ruching effect, then two rows of tightly pulled stitches may be necessary. Cut any loose threads.
  4. Fashion your hair in the way you plan to wear it on your wedding day. Carefully insert the tiara into your hair and adjust the fit. The veil should lie nicely over your hair if your hair is down. If you are wearing an up-do, insert your tiara in the front of the up-do and attach the veil to the back of the tiara where it wraps around your up-do.
  5. Check your head at every angle to arrange the veil or tiara to fit your hairstyle. It is important to adjust the tiara now so you won’t have trouble with it on your wedding day.

How to Make a Bridal Veil With a Tiara

bridal veil is a traditional piece of wedding attire. Three popular styles are the fingertip, blusher and cathedral veil. The fingertip veil is approximately 40 inches long from the top of the head to the tips of the fingers. The blusher falls to the tops of the shoulders and can be combined with other veils to make a layered effect. The cathedral veil is floor-length plus 6 inches, depending on the height of the bride. In 2009, veils cost $50 to $200, with tiaras adding an additional $50 to $200 to the total cost. With some planning, almost anyone can make a bridal veil with a tiara, and save money in the process。

  1. Fold the bridal illusion tulle in half and weight it down with heavy objects, such as drink coasters, on top of the rotary cutting mat.
  2. Measure 40 inches of fabric and cut in a straight line or curved arc across the bottom of the tulle.
  3. Add embellishments, such as seed pearls or crystals, one at a time using wooden toothpicks. Dip the end of the toothpick in craft glue and touch a pearl or crystal to the tulle. Allow at least one hour for the embellishments to dry before moving to the next step.
  4. Attach ribbon to the bottom of the veil. This can be done by carefully gluing ribbon along the bottom of the veil while folded in half. If you are proficient with a sewing machine, sew the ribbon onto the veil 1/2 inch from the bottom and cut away the excess.
  5. Remove the weights, and using the heavy thread, sew a long, loose running stitch along the top of the veil. (Running stitches are simply in-out-in-out.)
  6. Cut the thread, leaving plenty of thread hanging from both sides of the veil. Pull on these threads to gather the tulle. Tie a knot between the two ends to keep the material gathered.
  7. Attach the gathered portion of the veil to the bridal combs using the heavy thread. Use the same method to attach the tulle and combs to the tiara.

How to Make Beaded Tiaras

By creating your own tiara, you have the opportunity to make a wearable piece of art tailored to your needs. Use pearls and crystals for a bridal tiara, or add colored beads to match a prom dress. Even the size of the tiara can be altered to fit the wearer perfectly, which means it could be flower girl’s most dazzling accessory or the perfect topper to a princess costume.

Things You’ll Need
24-gauge copper wire, 4 feet
Needle-nose pliers.
Wire cutters
Beads
Pencil
Bobby pins

Instructions

1.Cut 4 feet of 24-gauge copper wire. Lay out your design. This tiara will have small prongs that stand up. There will be one bead on the top of each prong. Choose which bead will be the center bead, then lay out the beads on either side. Slide the center bead on the wire. Hold the bead in place in one hand. Twist the wire over the bead to hold in place.

2.Hold the bead firmly in one hand and the wire firmly in the other so that the wire is taut. Wrap one piece of wire around the other, twisting the wire in the process. Use needle-nose pliers, if needed, to twist the wire. Continue twisting two strands of wire above the bead until you have one inch completely formed. You have now created a prong.
3.Thread a second bead on the wire. Move it so it is about 1 1/2 inches away from the prong. Repeat twisting the wire above it, until you have 1 inch of twisted wire. Slide a bead on the other end of the wire, and twist the wire above it. Add beads on alternate sides until you have six prongs on each side of your center prong, each about 1/2 inch apart.

4.Put a pencil about 1/2 inch from the final prong. Wrap the wire around it to create a loop. Take the wire and coil it, so that it wraps around the wire until it reaches the prong. Remove the pencil. Use your wire cutters to cut the remaining wire. Repeat on the other side.

5.Attach the tiara to the hair by putting bobby pins through the loops created by the pencils. Barrettes can also be used to hold it in place.

Beach Wedding Dress Ideas

Beach weddings are common because of the relaxing atmosphere, calm breeze, soft sounds of nature and of course the natural beauty of the ocean. Creating your fairytale wedding at the beach isn’t very hard. Decide how formal or casual you want your wedding to be and center everything around that. Choose your beach wedding dress based on the formality of your wedding as well as your personal style.

Eden Bridals Beach Wedding/Informal Wedding Dress Style 1189

Casual
Wear a white bikini with gold or rhinestone accents. Complete the look with a nice white sarong. A white flower in your hair, toe rings, anklets and other foot jewelry will help complete this look.

For a really casual wedding, pair that white bikini idea with white linen shorts instead of a sarong.

A simple knee-length white sundress made of cotton or linen also would work well for a casual beach wedding. Use wood beads or shell necklaces to add to the natural beach feel.

Semi-formal
A Marilyn Monroe-inspired halter dress hanging just below the knees looks appropriate at a semi-formal beach wedding. Wear a pearl or gold necklace and strappy sandals.

Medium-length or long slip dresses look elegant for beach ceremonies as well. Choose a dress made of linen, gauze or crepe. Off-the-shoulder, halter or strapless dresses work well for warm beach weather, however a wrap or sleeves should be considered for cooler seasons or times.

Formal
Even though you’ll find many “experts” who say long, formal gowns are a no-no for beach weddings, it is your wedding–wear what makes you comfortable. If you want a full princess gown, go for it. Keep in mind there is water, sand and wind so the dress may not finish the day as crisp as it started.

Long, flowing gowns look lovely on a bride wherever she decides to exchange vows. A rhinestone embellished, strapless corset dress will work just as well at the beach as it would in a church.

You also can choose slimmer dresses in luxurious materials such as chiffon.

Shoes and Accessories
When it comes to shoes, be practical. Stiletto heels will sink into the sand, making you uncomfortable. Expensive satin shoes will likely be ruined. Opt to go barefoot, or wear fancy flip flops or strappy flat sandals. Don’t forget your pre-wedding pedicure.

Veils typically aren’t practical for beach weddings due to the breeze. If you go with a veil, pin it in place or be prepared for pictures with your veil blowing in your face. Instead, wear a tiara, rhinestone-covered barrettes or a big, tropical flower in your hair.

Sincerely hope this article will be helpful for you.

Tips on Choosing a Wedding Dress for a Second Marriage

When you get married the second time, it’s a brand new beginning. However, many second-time brides find themselves wondering how to choose a wedding dress for a second marriage. Sure, your great-aunt Betty may have some silly idea that you can’t wear white or you have to do things a certain way, but this is your wedding

Sleeping Beauty Wedding Dress Style-1

  1. Choose a style that is age appropriate. The low-cut, off-the-shoulder gown you wanted in your 20s may not be the appropriate choice at this point in your life. So, choose a wedding dress that will be age appropriate for your second marriage.
  2. Forget what people say and choose any color you want. Some people have the idea that you can’t wear white when getting married for the second time, but this is actually acceptable. Of course you have more options than just white. You can choose from ecru, ivory and pastels for your wedding. You can wear just about any color you choose as long as you like it.
  3. Keep in mind the wedding setting. When you’re choosing your wedding dress, make sure it is appropriate for the setting. If you are having a formal setting for your second marriage, then go with a formal gown. However, if the setting will be more laid back, such as on a beach, then something that is informal is perfectly fine for your wedding dress.
  4. Forgo the blusher. Usually the blusher is for first-time brides. This doesn’t mean that you can’t have some great accessories to highlight your face and hair, though. Consider a beautiful hat, tiara or hair jewelry that will accentuate the beauty and glow on your face.
  5. Don’t forget your unique personality. You want to choose a dress that will show off your own personality. Find a dress that suits you and your outlook on life, and you’ll look and feel great in your wedding dress on the big day.
  6. Find a dress that flatters your body. You want to look and feel great on your big day. This means you want a dress that hides your flaws and highlights your best features. Take some time to try on various dresses and find the one that looks the best on you. If you are not sure of yourself, take along a friend to help you figure out which wedding dress really looks the best.

How to Customize a Quinceanera Dress

The Quinceanos is the celebration for the Latin American girl upon reaching 15 years of age. Celebrating a quinceanera, or 15th birthday, is not complete without a custom gown that represents the transition from girl to woman. Traditionally, quinceanera dresses are white or pastel colors to complement the happy occasion. Many bridal and prom retailers also carry dresses for a quinceanera party. After you purchase your dress, take it to a tailor. A professional seamstress will fit the bodice of your quinceanera dress to your exact measurements. After the dress is fitted and dry cleaned, you are ready to customize your quinceanera dress by adding an applique that embellishes your garment

1. Look through fashion magazines to find the perfect look for the Quinceanera dress. Make several drawings with changes in the neckline shape, the bodice fit, hem length, sleeve length and fullness. Make the style flatter the wearer’s figure.

2. Purchase the appropriate fabric for the dress style you have chosen. Select taffeta, satin or chiffon for the bodice and either tulle or lace for a flowing skirt. White and other pastel colors are often colors of choice for Quinceanera dresses.

3. Accessorize your dress to fit your style and personality. Adding your own finishing touches will further customize your quinceanera dress. Your tiara, shoes and jewelry are all opportunities to add a special and personal element to your quinceanera dress.
